Converse Chuck Taylor All Star ‘70 by PLAY COMME des GARÇONS

With Summer right on our doorstep, it's time to pick appropriate foot attire for the season. For those of us too modest for sandals, sneakers may be a worthy weapon of choice. These sensibly casual wonders originated in 1916 and were eventually given their name due to a genius marketing scheme to stress the fact that their rubber soles made them stealthy and quiet in contrast to the squeaking cadence of other shoes. But sneakers have come a long way since their inception, and while toned-down varietals may appeal to some, an increasing number of collaborations between traditional shoe manufacturers and high-fashion houses has resulted in some of today's most exciting footwear. Particularly eye-catching is the latest round of collaborations between Converse and COMME des GARÇONS, already the fourth installment of this fruitful joint venture. These designs are based on the premium All Star Chuck 70 sneakers in high-top and ox silhouettes with the signature CdG heart logo created by New York-based graphic artist, Filip Pagowski, coyly peeking out from behind the midsoles. These sneakers are available exclusively through Dover Street Market, the DSM online store, and select retailers. PK
